Position: Secondary Curriculum Coordinator
Department: Teaching & Learning / Secondary (Grades 6–12)
Reports: Director of Teaching & Learning in collaboration with MS & HS Principals
Job Classification: Overseas or Local Hire
Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Secondary Curriculum Coordinator supports the development, implementation, and ongoing review of a coherent, high-quality curriculum across Grades 6–12. Guided by ASD’s mission, vision, and Strategic Framework, the Coordinator strengthens curriculum coherence, instructional design, and alignment with shared pedagogical frameworks. Working collaboratively with school leadership, Instructional Coaches, and faculty, the Coordinator builds collective capacity for continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

The Coordinator facilitates horizontal and vertical articulation of the written, taught, and assessed curriculum, ensuring coherence across departments, grade levels, and divisions. This is a non-supervisory, non-evaluative role that provides curriculum leadership, professional learning, and expertise in instructional frameworks across the Middle School and High School.

The Secondary Curriculum Coordinator will prioritize, promote and safeguard the welfare of all ASD students and show commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Curriculum Design, Coherence, and Program Leadership

  1. Curriculum Implementation and Strategic Initiatives: Support the implementation and ongoing refinement of curriculum and divisional initiatives aligned with ASD's Strategic Framework, establishing shared expectations and coordinating resources.
  2. Strategic Leadership Collaboration: Partner with divisional leadership, instructional coaches, and other school leaders to coordinate curriculum priorities and strengthen coherence across the Elementary divisions.
  3. Curriculum Review: Facilitate reviews of curriculum implementation and instructional practices, incorporating UDL principles and culturally responsive teaching and learning to inform curriculum refinement and professional learning priorities.
  4. Curriculum Documentation: Coordinate curriculum documentation in Atlas, ensuring the Secondary curriculum is standards-aligned, current, and accessible.
  5. EC–12 Strategic Bridge: Partner with the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator and Teaching and Learning Team to lead EC–12 Vertical Teams, strengthening collaboration among teacher leaders across divisions and ensuring coherent learning progressions.
  6. Assessment, Data & MTSS: Collaborate with Instructional Coaches and teacher leaders to analyze multiple sources of student learning evidence, facilitate data dialogues, and inform curriculum, assessment, and Tier 1 instructional practices within ASD's MTSS framework.

Professional Learning & Capacity Building

  1. Strategic Leadership Collaboration: Partner with divisional leadership, instructional coaches, and other school leaders to strengthen curriculum alignment and advance shared teaching and learning priorities.
  2. Professional Learning Design: Design and facilitate professional learning aligned with curriculum priorities and instructional frameworks, including PL days, faculty meetings, targeted sessions, and opportunities to learn from external consultants.
  3. New Faculty Onboarding: Collaborate with Instructional Coaches and divisional leadership to support new faculty onboarding through curriculum orientation, instructional frameworks, and shared expectations.
  4. Team and Leadership Support: Partner with Heads of Department and Team Leaders to strengthen curriculum planning and documentation, instructional practices, and collaboration.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of five years of successful Secondary classroom teaching experience.
  3. Expertise in curriculum mapping, UbD, and UDL.
  4. Strong understanding of standards-based curriculum and assessment, MTSS, and evidence-informed instructional practices.
  5. Experience using curriculum mapping and documentation tools, such as Atlas, and proficiency with Google Workspace.
  6. Training in coaching or collaborative facilitation methodologies, such as Cognitive Coaching, Adaptive Schools, or instructional coaching.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  1. Experience leading professional learning, PLCs, or instructional teams.
  2. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret student learning data for curriculum and program improvement.
  3. Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  4. Experience supporting MTSS and academic interventions at the program or systems level.
  5. Familiarity with international school contexts and multilingual learners.
  6. Ability to manage multiple initiatives, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a dynamic school environment.
